Free concerts at the Santa Monica Pier

Spread the love

One of the most beloved traditions of angels by the residents of Los Angeles and guests of the city is free concerts on Thursdays at the Santa Monica Pier. The concerts have been held for almost 31 years and invariably attract great attention of music lovers, one might say, from all over the world (after all, one cannot meet anyone in LA in general, and in the summer months in particular)! Every Thursday from July 9 to September 10, unrealistically cool parties with a variety of music are waiting for you. Jazz, rock, indie-pop, Latino, reggae, New Orleans brass are played here … All the performing teams and solo artists are carefully selected by the organizing committee, so you can say that you hear the best of the unknown (or rather, from the little-known). But after all, making musical discoveries, having fun on the ocean and meeting interesting people who share your musical tastes is all so Californian!
If you delve into the history of the Pier, we will find out that this was a fishing place, a racetrack, an amusement park, and a yacht club … Pierce is also associated with the cartoon character of the seaman Papaya (remember this? He ate spinach and super strong). Not once and not even twice the pier was completely destroyed. For the first time it happened in 1919 due to the rotting of the pier base and the rust formed on the beams. Then the pier fell victim to the strongest natural disasters. Somehow, they even consciously wanted to demolish it and build something “more useful” instead of a pier. But the Santa Monica Pier has been standing for more than a century. All those who want to feel free, light and happy gather here. Hundreds of the most interesting shops, as many beautiful coffee shops and restaurants, which have already become a symbol of the Ferris wheel, and on Thursdays there are also free evening concerts in this historic and so beloved by all residents of Los Angeles place.
